Bugün birçok aşirete kökenleri sorulduğunda hemen Musul, Bağdat, Basra, Horasan demektedirler. Aslında buralar, Asya’dan gelen Sugurların ve 2. göç dalgasındaki Türklerin yerleştikleri ilk yurtlardır. Bunu İslam tarihinde de görmekteyiz. Mesela, Celali aşireti köklerini Basra’ya bağlamaktadırlar.
Bu aşiretler Abbasiler zamanında Musul, Bağdat ve El-Cezire dolaylarından bölgeye taşınan Türklerdir. Evliya Çelebi’nin seyahatnamesinin 10. cildinde Ekrad’ın kökenini Abbasilere bağlayarak, Devleti Ali Abbasiyan Ekrad adı altındaki aşiretleri sıralar.
Gurmanc ve Kürtlerin Asya kökenli olduklarına dair delillerden biri de, aşiretlerin ve bu aşiretlerin yaşadığı köy adlarının Türkçe oluşudur. Doğu ve Güneydoğu Anadolu şehirlerinden toplam 23 ilin köy adları üzerinde yaptığımız çalışmalarda, bölgedeki köy adlarının % 50 civarının Ermenice, Süryanice, Rumca ve Arapça olduğu, % 40 civarında köy adının Türkçe ve % 10’luk dilimdeki köy adlarının ise özel adlardan oluşmuş köy olduğunu gördük. Türkler ele geçirdikleri ülkelerdeki yerleşim yerlerinin adlarını değiştirmeyip, o haliyle kullanmışlardır. Bölgedeki Ermeni, Arap ve Süryanice köy adlarının varlığı da bu sebepten karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Erzurum, Bitlis, Hasankeyf, Ahlat, Mardin, Urfa, Adıyaman-Samsat, Tunceli-Hozat, Muş-Malazgirt v.b isimleri Ermeni, Rum ve Süryanilere ait yer adları olup, örnek olarak verilebilir. Bölgedeki köylerin eski adlarının Kürtçede ve Gurmac lehçesinde bir karşılığı yoktur. Bu çerçevede yaptığım yüzlerce görüşmede insanlara köy isimlerinin anlamını sordum ama bir cevap alamadım.
Ayrıca detaylı yapılan araştırmalar, Kürt ve Gurmanc olarak adlandırılan birçok aşiretlerin, Türk boylarına bağlı olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır.
